YOU ALREADY HAVE WHAT YOU NEED

THERE IS NO SPOON!!!

a little lesson learned from The Matrix and Neo’s quest to become “the one”

So after having a conversation about a BOMB movie we watched, we were reminded of this line from the first Matrix movie. There is no Spoon!

So, in the movie, we are sure you remember the scene… Neo “The One” is at the house of the Oracle to discover his purpose, or better yet, to be told that he is “The One” (that’s not where we are going today, we are not about to talk about the need to be TOLD you are the one- especially since she told him he wasn’t) BUT, anyway you know how it goes, he’s there, he meets this kid bending a spoon with his mind, and Neo asks him how he bends the spoon. The boy basically says to him, you’re trying to bend the spoon, but you have to realize, there is no spoon.

We watched a different movie today (not the matrix) and the conversation we had afterward reminded us of that phrase. There is no Spoon. So we wanted to remind you today, THERE IS NO SPOON. What do we mean when we say that?

Well, what we mean is… The thing you are looking to use as a way to nourish yourself, sustain yourself, and supply yourself, so that you can grow, repair damaged areas of your life, and gain the energy you need to succeed… does not exist. Additionally, the thing you are looking to use to perform better, do well, and add some fire to your life, DOES NOT EXIST!!

Where in the WORLD did we get all that? Well, let’s take a look at the phrase…

There is no spoon.

(this is a deep dive into the definition and etymology of the phrase, read carefully, take your time, and digest slowly)

The “there is no” part is pretty self explanatory. This starts the phrase, but finishes our example. In our statements we finish with the words “does not exist”. So “there is no” = “does not exist”. This means that EVERYTHING ELSE WE SAID in the above sentence, is locked up in the single word “spoon.”

Spoon:

an eating or cooking implement consisting of a small shallow bowl with a relatively long handle.
something (such as a tool or fishing lure) that resembles a spoon in shape

So what are we saying here? The eating or cooking implement you’re looking for, does not exist.

Let’s break that down.

The word “implement” here is defined as, a device used in the performance or a task; one that serves as an instrument or tool. So the device, or tool, or instrument you’re looking to use to eat and cook with doesn’t exist.

Let’s go a little further…

We said that a spoon is device, or tool, or instrument used for eating or cooking. And although we think we know what eating is, let’s take a look anyway. While there are many definitions for “eat,” we’ll focus on the first and most widely used one.

Eating:

to take in through the mouth as food : ingest, chew, and swallow in turn

So the device, or tool, or instrument you want to utilize to ingest, chew, and swallow you “food” does not exist.

Say huh? Listen…

Food is: material consisting of essentials needed to sustain growth, repair damage, and furnish energy. It’s also defined as something that nourishes, sustains, or supplies.

So let’s put the sentence together once more. The device, or tool, or instrument you’re looking to utilize, in order to ingest the what’s needed to help nourish you, sustain you, and supply you, so that you can grow, repair damage, and furnish energy, does not exist.

We know it’s a mouthful, but we’re still talking about the spoon. REMEMBER, it ain’t real! Let’s take it a step further. Because spoons, don’t just help you eat. The definition said they were a cooking instrument too.

Cooking:

to perform, do, or proceed well

Now, isn’t that quite the interesting definition for us? While again, there are many ancillary definitions of “cook” and “cooking” this definition is the one most applicable to our conversation here. In essence we are looking to this instrument (this spoon) to help us perform well, do well, or proceed well. AND we are looking for this instrument (this spoon) to help us add heat or fire to what we need to sustain growth or furnish energy! Got it?!?

So let’s put it all together.

There is no device, or tool, or instrument you can utilize to ingest the essential materials needed to nourish you and supply you, in order for you to grow, repair damage, and develop energy. Additionally there is no device, or tool, or instrument you can utilize to add fire to those materials of nourishment to make ingesting and chewing it easier. THERE IS NO SPOON!

So, WHYYYYYY did this little boy tell this to Neo?

He was trying to get Neo to grasp the truth, that he needed to look within. He wanted Neo to know that there was no tool, or process, or series of steps that would show him how to bend the spoon. He needed Neo to understand that bending the spoon wasn’t even what he was actually trying to do (or needed to do).

What Neo needed to do, was recognize that the instrument, the materials, the nourishment, the supplies, the ability to grow, to repair, and be energized, was all INSIDE HIM FROM THE START. AND, if he could just TAP INTO THAT SUPER POWER, he wouldn’t need anyone to tell him, he’s the one. He would know he is the one. He would walk like the one, talk like the one, and act like the one. He would #BE the one!!

Today, we are here to tell you the same thing family. THERE IS NO SPOON! Stop trying to find the right instrument. Stop trying to bend the spoon to prove you can change how things look in your life! Let’s say that louder for the people in the back…

STOP TRYING TO FIND AN INSTRUMENT YOU CAN BEND IN ORDER TO PROVE YOU CAN CHANGE HOW THINGS LOOK IN YOUR LIFE!!

You are already the one!

Neo was ALWAYS “The One”. It didn’t matter if he bent a spoon or not. It didn’t matter how many spoons he bent. It didn’t matter if he was stopping bullets or getting his ass kicked by Morpheous, HE WAS STILL THE ONE!!! AND SO ARE YOU!! Today on this day, please know, you don’t need find a spoon to prove that you can make it bend. Why? Because…

THERE IS NO SPOON!
